About the Author

Christopher Williams (AGSM, PhD, FRSA) is an independent academic, and visiting Fellow at the University of London (Institute of Education). He has also held posts at the universities of Bristol (Medical School), Birmingham (College of Social Science), Cairo (Conservatoire of Music), Cambridge (Global Security Programme), London (Education and Development), and the United Nations (Leadership Academy).

Originally a professional trumpeter, his international interests started with a student visit to USSR in 1972 (without his parents’ knowledge), across the Berlin Wall to Warsaw Pact countries in 1973, and then to Communist China. From 1980, he worked at Cairo University, to replace Soviet staff thrown-out in response to the Russian occupation of Afghanistan, and experienced the assassination of Sadat and dictatorship of Mubarak. He then broke boycotts to work in apartheid South African, setting up projects for street children. Later he joined the United Nations Leadership Academy in Jordan, but had to leave during the build-up to the US/UK occupation of Iraq.

His other books include Researching Power, Elites and Leadership (Sage); Leadership Accountability in a Globalizing World; Environmental Victims - New Risks, New Injustice; Invisible Victims - Crime and Abuse against People with Learning Disabilities; Terminus Brain - The Environmental Threat to Human Intelligence. He has written for the Times Higher, Korea Herald and China Daily, and has discussed his research on BBC TV and radio, government TV in Kazakhstan and Korea, and at the British House of Commons and UN Palais des Nations.

This book is THE BOMB

I use this book in my IEP classes for intermediate ESL students. The organization and structure is as complete as it gets. It starts by addressing common fears of public speaking, replacing those fears with more positive outlooks, and then helps the teacher to build students' confidence by introducing and explaining each step that is needed to deliver an organized, well-researched, interesting, and powerful speech, while leaving plenty of flexibility for students to choose topics that are special and interesting to them. (Each chapter also includes a pronunciation exercise, though I supplement these with exercises from English Pronunciation Made Simple [Dale & Poms, Longman, 2005] that more directly target the needs of the current class.) Highly recommend this book!

Missing cd

I don't like my purchase because the book has a lot of notes writing in it and the cd was missing, and they never told me that until the book arrived. As a student, the cd was so important for me because I had to listen the cd in order to do my homework, so that situation was too uncomfortable and make me feel I have been fooled.

Key Muscles of Yoga

This book is fantastic! Have both Vol I & II, and they are invaluable for anyone wanting to learn about yoga, being healthier, or any nursing or med, or physical therapy student.
The book shows which muscles are involved in each yoga move - the ones working, being stretched, or supporting the body weight. For anyone in medicine, this also breaks down movements into steps and illustrates why the patient is in pain with that movement. For anyone in physical therapy, is illustrates why you need to do that excerise & shows how it will help you.
As a student in a yoga teacher training class, this helps me learn how to do the poses correctly and which muscles are working with each pose and how to avoid stressing injuried body parts. Fantastic reading and a great resource!

Beautifully illustrated anatomy reference - only uses Sanskrit names

As someone with a very scientific mind, sometimes I get frustrated with the vague terms that get used during normal yoga classes. I was looking for a book that got into the really technical anatomical details, and I found it. This book is a beautifully illustrated anatomy reference that should be helpful for yogis, fitness instructors, physical therapists, or anyone who is just curious about how their muscles and bones work together in different poses. The only complaint I have is that all the poses in the book are described using only the Sanskrit names. I’m familiar with some of the names, but I spend a fair bit of time googling the ones I don’t know to figure out the Americanized name for the asana while reading this book.

Perfect Anatomy Book for the Beginner

I have many anatomy books after completing my 200hr yoga training this fall. While there are many wonderful texts out there, The Key Muscles of Yoga Vol. I is the best for the beginner. The computer generated illustrations are comprehensive and the minimal text really gets the main points across. Another benefit for the person new to anatomy is that the bones and muscles of each major group are covered with reference to the movement they make in various yoga poses. Additionally, because this written by an MD, the technical language is there but it's not scary and provides a great introduction to learning the proper movement terms.

Highly recommend this for the person new to either yoga, anatomy or both!

Following a Rothschild maxim that "tops and bottoms are for fools", Marber would also add "and for liars". He describes technical analysis as exactly like huntin', shootin', and fishin': what's being hunted are trends, never shooting for a top nor fishing for a bottom. But before any of that you need to learn about price.
Using the same approach that he used when he taught at the International Management Institute, Geneva, he begins with price, then what price leads to: trends, support and resistance, patterns, indicators and ratios. When that has been absorbed, he moves on to stops.
Marber also shares with the reader his vast wealth of experience of his time in the business - showing you the nitty-gritty, technical analysis in real-time, warts and all, and including reports on the FTSE, gold, oil and the dollar.
This book is a must-read for anyone who really wants to understand the markets, delivered in Marber's distinctive and unique voice.

About the Author
Brian Marber can make a fair claim to be the most widely experienced technical analyst in the world, having been one since 1963. A Fellow of the Society of Technical Analysts, he has been a blue button (stockbroker's clerk), stock market dealer, member of two UK stock exchanges, and managing partner of the London office of one of the largest regional 'broking houses. At IOS and then at NM Rothschild & Sons, totally eschewing the fundamental approach, he was the first fund manager in the UK to manage large funds using only technical analysis. Between 1976 and 1981, as a stockbroker, Brian Marber was voted by institutional investors No.1 technical analyst in the City for six successive years, a unique record. When he started managing FX accounts in the 1990s, he was given exemption from the SFA Exams because of his 'long and distinguished career in the investment industry.' In 1980, in a survey conducted by the Treasurer of the Singer Company, Brian Marber had the best FX forecasting record in the world. For 15 years he wrote monthly for Euromoney Currency Report, and more recently for the Financial Times. In the 1980s, Brian Marber was a Member of the Visiting Faculty of IMI (Geneva), the oldest established business school in Europe. In 1981, he founded a company which, with clients in 20 countries, became the world's largest independent FX consultancy. As a lecturer and teacher, Brian Marber has spoken at six Financial Times World Gold conferences, three Australian Gold Conferences, Johannesburg 100, Comex, and the Washington Gold & Silver Institute, and has also conducted seminars and teach-ins in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, Israel, Italy, UK, Eire, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland and Luxembourg. A one-time member of the Investment Panel of The Observer and regular broadcaster on TV and radio, Brian Marber is still an FX Consultant to banks, large corporations, hedge fund companies (including Europe's oldest, Odey Asset Management), and private clients.

I would not give this book "Holy Grail" status, hence no five stars but Brian Marber tells you exactly what techniques he used in the City of London for the best part of forty years.Furthermore I found this book honest, relatively simple and in parts quite funny.A good book on technical analysis from a man with verifiable reputation. What more do you want?

Like most of us, I'm always looking for a way to get more results from less effort. It could be said that I'm seeking efficiency, or this is just 'human nature'... some would even call it laziness (if you must -- but I don't think so).

I look at it as seeking the best return on my investment. And whether we're talking about money or time (or whatever commodity), isn't that what we all really want -- more from less, and FASTER?

That's what James provides us with here in this Real Estate strategy: Efficiency. More from less. A proven way to get the best return on your investment of time AND money.

However, I would not suggest only reading this book and then starting your wholesaling business. It doesn't happen very often that someone practices what they preach anymore, and that's why it's always good to see a case study like this. James knows his stuff when it comes to real estate.

The methods he teaches in this book are fundamental which means that they'll work today, tomorrow, next week, next year... it doesn't matter when you implement them, you'll get similar results because fundamentals never change.

Again, when you have an expert teaching you something, you should listen, no matter what their expertise is. James expertise IS real estate, and it shows through the pages of this book.

Extremely helpful resource

Extremely helpful resource to prepare for the McKinsey PEI. After reading this book it will be clear that the PEI is a full interview format like the case interview and needs to be prepared with the same rigor. Without knowing all this, I would not want to go to my McKinsey interviews. Given the importance of the PEI, I can definitely recommend this ebook to prepare.

Extremely overpriced for publicly available online information

It is not a book, it is a set of powerpoint slides. All the information (actually much more) in this book can be found online. I was very stressed for my interview and bought this book (ebook version on the original website) for 97 dollars but it should actually be a 7 dollar book, maybe 3.

WARNING: FRAUDULENT REVIEWS

The booklet is - unfortunately - not useful at all. A nice concise guide with some examples priced at $10 would be awesome, but that is not what you are getting. You are getting an agglomeration of trivial stuff stretched to look like a lot with a healthy dose of inspiration from Victor Cheng. Have a look at the positive reviews, in particular on the German Amazon website; they are all from accounts that have reviewed Mr Steiner's other two books and not much else, one account even is in the author's name. Looks like a pretty clear cut case of fraud to me - stay away!

You will find plenty of free info that is considerably more helpful than this useless booklet, stuffed with advertisements for the author's skype sessions. Typically McKinsey will schedule a coaching call; feel free to ask any clarifying questions you may have regarding your stories for each of the dimensions, they will not hold it against you.

Life-changing experience

Reading this book helped change my life. It gave me a new insight into my own life and made me start looking at things rationally instead of through the tinted lense that is anxiety. The case-studies are mind-blowing and really help one understand the core emotions that underly all people. I have specific underlined passages I often refer back to and think to myself, "there is no other way to describe what the author is writing other than pure genius."

An excellent in depth study of anxiety

I read this this book a few years back when I was in the throes of my own, rather intense, "anxiety disorder." I read many books on anxiety during this period and found that most of them fit into one of two catagories. The first catagory is the "conquer anxiety disorder" type, which explain the disorder in psycho-medical terms and propose a number of techniques (including drugs in some cases) for alleviating the symptoms. Some of these I found helpful, but they give very little insight into the "root" of the disorder or its deep psychological causes. The other type of book, which is more rare, delves into the philosophical and psychological roots of anxiety. Rollo May's book fits into the later catagory. Rollo May was a student of Paul Tillich who wrote "The Courage to Be" which examines anxiety from an ontological and existential viewpoint. He had a lot of influence on May's thought. The Meaning of Anxiety is an in depth study of anxiety: what it is, where it comes from, what purpose it serves, and in some ways how to transcend it. This book gives real insight into anxiety. The major thinkers on anxiety tend to be existentialists like May, Tillich, and Kierkegaard. When you read their work you gain a much broader perspective on this thing called anxiety.

Get at the heart of your spending - and start saving

This book made changes in my life that I was not expecting. I’m pretty self-aware to begin with, and knew that my relationship with money was not as healthy as it could be. I set out to read this book with the hopes that I would finally be able to start saving money without feeling like I was pinching pennies. I ended up constructing a financial life I’m actually excited about.

Newcomb is able to challenge conventional money strategies by reframing the way we approach it. For example, I’ve always thought of the budget as two column: income and expenses. But the Loaded budget helped me see myself and skills as assets. I realized I have a lot more opportunities to make money than my paycheck. By seeing myself as a resource, I am able to start taking control of how I earn money rather than feeling like my paycheck is something that I’ll earn if I’m lucky.

The chapter on money psychology is really interesting, and she asks insightful questions. Her thoughts on privilege are particularly astute and useful beyond the world of money. The section on psychological distance really resonated with me. As someone is generally impatient and focused on the moment, I found her research and advice on how to get past impulsiveness immediately useful.

Another thing I love is how Newcomb describes everything as a need. We don’t have needs and wants, she says: we have needs and strategies. While I’ve instinctively recognized this in my own budget already, she lays out a very good case about how the things we want actually meet a need. For example, the trip to the coffee shop may actually be satisfying a social need. The strategy may change – say, order something cheaper, or head to the park instead – but knowing why you’re doing something will help so much with sticking to the budget.

This book will challenge you to be honest about your beliefs and needs and promises that if you do, you’ll get on track to a healthy relationship with money. If you’re already familiar with self-growth, you’ll find Newcomb’s approach really helpful to getting your financial life together. Even if it’s something that you’ve never tried, I think you’ll find it’s a refreshing way to think about personal finance.

EVERYONE needs to read this book!!!

I LOVED this book! After teaching financial literacy in high school and in college for many years, I find Sarah's take on the psychology of money refreshing and very true to LIFE! It provides the missing piece in the relevancy of financial literacy. Herwriting flows neatly by introducing a new topic in the last sentence of the previous topic. LOADED is easy to read and understand, and her stories used to support her concepts are very relatable and help to maintain interest. With Sarah's permission, I used a scenario in my college class to help my students successfully understand the emotional value of money. I highly recommend this book to everyone trying to get a handle on money management.

Excellent book -- both practical and thoughtful

This is both a thoughtful and practical book. Dr Newcomb dives into why so many of us struggle to manage our money effectively and relate to the job market and our income in a healthy way. For good or for ill, money is all around us, and it's part of our how we survive and succeed -- but yet we avoid talking about it, and treat the product of our own labor in a twisted love-hate manner.

She dives into why that happens, and how we can take a calm step back to analyze our "personal economy" - our income, our expenses, and our goals. Then, to top it off, she gives practical tools (from concepts to fill-in-the-blank worksheets) on how to actually do this in your daily life - with a more sensible clear approach to budgeting, and a better way to manage our money overall. Well done!
