About the Author
John F. (Jack) Walsh was born with a severe hearing disability. In spite of that, he spent his entire life in a profession that required talking to people and carefully listening to what they had to say. He was extremely skilled in the art of listening and had an uncanny ability of figuring out what the problem was and how he could help. Mr. Walsh passed away ten days after completing his book. Many in the community paid their respects, while discussing how much he helped them, their families, including the staff at the State Mental Health Center, where he had given eighteen years of his life. R.I.P. John (Jack) Walsh, JR - Everyone loved you!

Gain a beginning understanding
By Barbara L
The book is a brief summary of the kinds and causes of depression. It is written for those of us who aren't professional mental health workers. The book is easy to read and understand. It gives a comprehensive outline of the kinds of depression such as seasonal depression, teenage depression and elderly depression. Each outline defines the type, the causes, symptoms and cures of a specific depression. The case studies were helpful. The most helpful was the one titled "Recognizing Manipulative People and Controlling Relationships". I liked the comments found in the helping someone who is depressed section. I, also, liked the comment: "there is the power of prayer and there is something called the power of common sense." The book gives a sense of what the types of depression are like and is a good beginning study of this subject.

And Speaking of the "D" Word. You Need to Read This Book!
By Dr.David Walter Aguado
It is the principle of "Simple is Always Better" at play. This book takes the mystery and jargon out of the equation and explains what depression really is and how we can fight it. Excellent!
